Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
This is the fourth level of the Technical Specialist classification.
Provide comprehensive technical expertise to solve complex problems and provide leadership skills to provide project management of work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work.
Incumbents are expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.
Duties & Responsibilities Under minimal supervision and with increased latitude for un-reviewed work in the area of expertise will provide:
advanced technical expertise and leadership in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems technical consulting and direction to clients, engineers, and project stakeholders innovation and application of state-of-the-art technical knowledge in area of expertise application of appropriate codes, standards, procedures and standard terminology and symbols to produce complex technical work.
research and documentation of scope and format of complex technical projects assistance in training and work review of less experienced technical specialists in complex technical discipline effective planning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities to ensure accomplishment of team goals.
project cost and man-hour estimates complete and accurate highly technical documents such as summary reports, correspondence, specifications, procedures, and statistical analyses continuous improvement of job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance effective oral and written communication skills maintain accurate records and files.
support of the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Requirements Associate degree in area of expertise with 10 years of relevant experience; or bachelor's degree with 8 years relevant experience; or Advanced degree (MS) with 4 years relevant experience; or 15 years of relevant technical experience Understanding of fundamental concepts in area of expertise Ability to apply sound and diversified knowledge of the principles and practices of the technical area to perform highly complex technical work.
Ability to represent the company in industry activity in area of expertise.
Proven Computer skills appropriate for area of expertise Time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities to meet goals and deadlines.
Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Excellent research and communication skills Experience in the utility industry Other Skills/Abilities Self-Motivated Work independently Team-Oriented Customer Oriented Able to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members.
Desired Qualifications Skilled in the principles of project management Note:
Prerequisite for promotion within the job string requires strong performance at prior level.
Promotion to the Technical Specialist 4 level will be based on merit and business need.
